DIR-3 KYC is the annual KYC return that every individual holding a Director Identification Number (DIN) — including disqualified or inactive DINs — must file with the MCA by 30 September of every financial year following the year in which DIN was allotted.
Key points
- Rule 12A of the Companies (Appointment & Qualification of Directors) Rules 2014 mandates that EVERY person with an active DIN as on 31 March of a financial year must file DIR-3 KYC by 30 September of the immediately following FY.
- There are two forms: (a) DIR-3 KYC e-form — required if any KYC detail has changed since the previous filing OR if it's the first KYC after DIN allotment;
- (b) DIR-3 KYC-Web — a simple web-based re-confirmation if no detail has changed.
- Late filing deactivates the DIN;
- reactivation costs ₹5,000 per DIN.
- Filing fee for on-time submission is ZERO.
